Colorado Mountain Guides was founded to cater to your individual needs. I don't offer group programs matching you with strangers with whom you may not be compatible. Everything is individually designed. The person you speak with on the phone is the one who will be climbing with you. Me! I'm committed to providing you the highest quality instruction and the best climbing experience possible. I'm proud of the work I do and invite you to contact some of my past clients. -- Alan Jolley
Alan has been guiding and instructing for 24 years and is certified by the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA) as a Level I and Level II Rock Guide. Alan was a founding member
of the modern AMGA Technical Committee and helped
design and implement the Rock Guide Education and
Certification Program for the AMGA still in use
today. This program is now internationally
recognized by the International Federation of
Mountain Guides Associations. He continues to teach
guide training courses. He started guiding in the
Adirondacks of NY in 1980 and became a partner in
the Lake Placid Climbing School in 1982. He
introduced hundreds of people to rock climbing and
ice climbing in the Adirondacks. In 1985 he
relocated to Colorado to manage the EMS Climbing
School in Boulder. In 1990 he started his own guide
service/climbing school specializing in
personalized guided climbs and custom designed
courses. This same year he took his field exam and
became a certified rock guide. He continues to
upgrade his guiding skills through teaching,
examining, and personal climbing trips to the major
climbing areas in the US.
